Alumnus Kerry James Marshall solo show at D.C.'s National Gallery

National Gallery WDC

A solo show of work by Kerry James Marshall ('78), McArthur "genius" award winner, is on view at the National Gallery in Washington D.C. from June 28-December 7.

"Kerry James Marshall is one of the most exciting and celebrated painters currently working in the United States. His art is a reflection on African American history and the reverberations of the past in contemporary life. Marshall's first solo exhibition in Washington—10 paintings and some 20 works on paper—affords a context for understanding the National Gallery's own Great America (1994) and its powerful imagery."
