Otis alumni have enriched the entertainment industry since Wilfred Jackson (‘28)’s animations for Disney’s Silly Symphony (1935) and Thomas McKimson (‘25)’s concept for Tweety Bird for Warner Bros in the 1930s. They have supervised visual effects (Jim Rygiel, Lord of the Rings trilogy), created concept designs (Daphne Yap (‘07), Avatar), served as production designers (Dean Tavoularis (‘55), The Godfather), designed costumes (Dorothy Jeakins, The Sound of Music), and acted as storyboard artists (Derek Thompson (‘94), Wall-E).
Since 1918, Otis has trained artists and designers who transform our world through art, design, style, and entertainment. An Otis education, rooted in excellence, creativity, diversity, and collaborative engagement, produces graduates who shape our cultural landscape and fuel the creative economy.
