In this radical community-sited work in the historic Watts neighborhood of South Central Los Angeles, Edgar Arceneaux carries on the legacy of founding artist Rick Lowe (Project Row Houses) by involving neighborhood residents, artists, and architects in the renovation of twenty private homes across the street from the historic Watts Towers.  The dream for this long-term project includes an artist residency program, a community-run cafe and organic garden, and low income housing.

Arceneaux, a native Angelino, has a versatile practice including drawings, photography, collaborative installations, community-based social sculpture and large-scale film projects.  Arceneaux received his BFA from the Art Center College of Art and Design in Pasadena and his MFA from the California Institute of Arts in Valencia.

Location: The 18th Street Arts Center, 1657 18th Street, Santa Monica, CA 90404
