No 1: First Works features work by fine arts seniors. The title is borrowed from a book by Francesca Richer and Matthew Rosenzweig which was inspired by a lecture on Gerhard Richter at MoMA. This exhibition is about artists who look at their method by way of the “first work” and what they would choose as their “number one.” It is an opportunity to view, from a new angle, the artists’ way of thinking- their inspirations, their occasional frustrations, and their breakthroughs, forming a document of the creative process.
