In this course students learn what it takes to specialize in knitted fabric design, patternmaking, and production. Students design a simple sweater, knit the pattern to garment pieces, and learn sewing, crocheting, and linking techniques for knitwear application. Also includes discussion on how to launch your own knitwear line - from creating your first mock-ups to distribution of samples to the fashion market. A limited number of knitting machines are available for use. Students can use their own machine or purchase one from their instructor at wholesale cost.

    Prerequisite: None

First class materials: $20 lab fee payable to instructor for two cones of yarn; students to purchase any specialty yarns.
