This course emphasizes the structure and proportion of the human form. Students draw from the live unclothed model, studio instruction includes quick sketch, short, and long poses. Students work in a variety of drawing media and develop strong technical skills.
Prerequisite: Basic Drawing or equivalent experience
First class materials: 18"x24" drawing board, 18"x24" pad of smooth newsprint, 2-3 charcoal pencils (“soft” numbers such as 4B or 6B), “carbon” pencils (“Wolff’s Carbon” 4B, 6B; Conte’ “Pierre Noir” 2B, 3B), 2-3 pastel pencils (Carb-Othello, Faber-Castell “PITT”, Creta-color) in dark colors (earth tones, reds, blues etc.), 2-3 Color Pencils (Prismacolor and Poly-Chromos) in dark colors (earth tones, reds, blues etc.), kneaded rubber and Magic-Rub erasers, razor blades or utility knife, 3"x4" piece of #100 sandpaper, chamois.
