Tom Van Sant
Tom Van Sant, MA in Environmental Arts and Sciences, Goddard College; MFA, Otis Art Institute of Los Angeles County; BA, Stanford University. Mr. Van Sant is a sculptor, painter, and conceptual artist. In his 50 years as a practicing artist, he has executed over 60 major sculpture and mural commissions for public spaces around the world. He has had fifteen solo exhibition in the United States, Europe, and Australia. His artistic works are represented in public and private collections throughout the world. Mr. Van Sants' work reflects an interest in architectural design, city planning, art education, and advanced technical invention. His large scale conceptual art projects of the 1980's led to the creation of The GeoSphere Project, an ambitions environmental display system designed to illustrate the issues of Earth resource management. He is known for his design of large scale kites. His flying sculptures have been flown and exhibited at a dozen museums in the U.S. and Europe. Mr. Van Sant is known in the kite world of as the father of modern kite making.
