    Trials and Troubles: A Night of Songs and Stories with Tom Brosseau, Rachel Kushner, and Benjamin Weissman

  • Otis Books is pleased to publish Tim Erickson’s debut collection of poetry, Egopolis, a textual journey through destruction, resistance, city, and the Ego, from ancient times to the present day. Erickson’s work has appeared in the Chicago Review, Western Humanities Review, and the Salt Anthology of New Writing. He lives in Salt Lake City.

Color Pencil Techniques with D.J. Hall


In this special course, artist D.J. Hall introduces students to her unique style of layering colored pencils to achieve hyper-realistic watercolor-like results. Emphasis is on representational style and subjects including figure, still life, and landscape. This studio course includes hands-on exercises, class discussion, and critique. Also includes demonstrations illustrating instructor's special techniques and secrets for creating realistic and plein aire studies. Students are encouraged to work from personal photographic sources however instructor also provides photographs and/or still-life set-up.

Pre-requisite: Drawing or painting experience

First class materials: Berol Verithin Color Pencils (specific colors TBA); Paper (TBA)
