  • Professor Julia Czerniak is educated in both architecture and landscape architecture, and serves as Associate Dean at the School of Architecture at Syracuse University. Through her own design practice, CLEAR, and most recently as the former inaugural Director of UPSTATE: Syracuse’s SOA’s Center for Design, Research and Real-Estate, Julia’s  research and practice draw on the intersection of landscape and architecture.

  • Alumni from Otis, Art Center, and CalArts are invited to celebrate the holidays at our second annual alumni holiday mixer. Eat, drink, be merry, and enjoy live music! Alumni are invited to bring a guest, but this event is closed to the public.

College Preparation: Digital Photography


Using a digital SLR camera, students explore the foundations of photography while expanding on their current skills. Course covers different approaches to photography including documentary, street, and studio photography. Students learn to use Adobe Lightroom to manage and organize their files as well as Adobe Photoshop to develop image editing and compositing techniques. The instructor works with students to create a final project based on their own ideas. Includes 2-3 field trips.

Prerequisite: Prior photography experience is helpful but not required.

First Class Materials: Digital SLR camera, External Firewire hard drive (at least 256 MB); $22 lab fee payable to instructor for copy card. Additional copy cards are available in $10 and $20 amounts (tax not included) through the Otis Business Office.
