Continuing Education Course

SEM: 39

Patterns and Painting: Ages 5-8

Patterns can be found everywhere, from the natural environment, like the rings of a tree, to items designed by people, such as the clothes we wear. In this course, explore different ways of making two dimensional works of art by utilizing patterns and repetition. Create abstract and representational works while learning the fundamental techniques of painting and drawing. Taking cues from contemporary artists, you’ll have fun experimenting with Op art, Pop art, geometric abstraction, and more.

First class materials: $35 lab fee payable to the instructor for supplies.

IMPORTANT:
• All students attending courses on the Goldsmith Campus must check in with Continuing Education staff in the lobby of the Ahmanson Building
• All Young Artist Workshop (YAW) students are required to submit a completed YAW Emergency Information Form prior to admittance into the classroom. (Students will not be permitted to attend without this.)
• For students attending both morning and afternoon classes, a mandatory fee of $50 is required for supervision during the lunch break (meals not included). The fee is paid upon check-in on the first day of each 2-week session.
