    Discover how the creative economy is transforming downtown Los Angeles.  Studios and galleries continue to move to the heart of our city and into areas that were off the beaten path just a year ago. Otis Patrons Circle members will enjoy an Otis-inspired tour of downtown L.A.'s vibrant scene.  

    Tour includes:
    Visit to Kent Twitchell's ('77 MFA) new studio, followed by a short ride to see a few of his downtown murals

    Inside peek of Cynthia Vincent's ('88 Fashion Design) fashion design studio

Fundamentals of Drawing (C): Ages 13-15


In this course the fundamentals of drawing are introduced through a variety of drawing media. Students explore basic visual elements such as line, shape, texture and value in relation to drawing techniques and design principles. Students work from observation and their imagination to develop creative and aesthetic sensibilities, creating a foundation for further artistic exploration.

Class Materials: 11" x 14" or 9" x 12" sketchbook, 14" x 17 " drawing pad (Strathmore 400 series drawing paper pads), 14" x 17" newsprint pad, Drawing board (Sax 19 1/2” x 19” Carry-All Portable Drawing Board), graphite drawing pencils (2H, HB, 2B, 4B, 6B), compressed charcoal stick set, 1 kneaded eraser, 1 Mars white eraser, Kum Long Point Pencil Sharpener, with shavings receptacle/canister, basic set of colored chalk pastels, glue stick, scissors, 12” ruler, Compose It Clear Grid- 3:4 (available from Blick)

IMPORTANT:
• All Young Artist Workshop (YAW) students are required to submit a completed YAW Emergency Information Form prior to admittance into the classroom. (Students will not be permitted to attend without this.)
• Course is held at the Otis Mid-Wilshire Studio (6124 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles, 90048)
