Direct Parent PLUS Loans
Parents of Undergraduate students may apply to borrow a Direct Parent Plus Loan from the Federal government. These loans require a separate online application that includes a credit check.
Parents with an adverse credit history are still encouraged to apply, as students whose parents are denied a PLUS loan are eligibile to receive an Additional Unsubsidized Loan.
Also, parents with an adverse credit history may still be approved if they are able to document extenuating circumstances or obtain an endorser.

The Financial Aid Office communicates with current students directly via the Otis student email account. Students are expected to check their Otis email frequently in order to receive information about their financial aid awards, missing documents and upcoming deadlines.
Students must submit a FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) Release Form to release information to parents or family members.
To learn more about the FERPA, please read about it in depth on the Registration website found here.
Encouraging Money Management Skills
For many students college is the first time they will deal with finances on their own. We recommend that parents discuss money management with their students. Learning how to set a budget and live within it is a important lifelong lesson. Please encourage your student to make an account with SALT, a non-profit that OTIS has partnered with, that provides free financial tips on how to handle credit and student loans.
