    This week 4-6pm is Waves to Asia with DJ Pheonix, DJ Z and DJ Kai, bringing some Asian culture to the air waves, including J-Pop, K-Pop and Chinese Pop, as well as popular anime music. Also as part of the show we will feature a talk about Asian food that you can get and try in Los Angeles.

    Scott Short | Born 1964 in Marion, OH | Lives and works in Paris, France 

     

  • Cathy Park Hong's poetry collections include Translating Mo'um and Dance Dance Revolution, which was chosen for the Barnard Women Poets Prize. Norton published her third book of poems, Engine Empire, in 2012. A former Fullbright Fellow, Hong is also the recipient of fellowships from the NEA and the New York Foundation for the Arts. Her poems have been appeared in A Public Space, Poetry, Paris Review, Conjunctions, McSweeney's, APR, Harvard Review, Boston Review, The Nation, and other journals.

Alum KRISTIN DUCHARME ‘03 had a one-person exhibition/installation in "Perceptions" at the Torrance Art Museum from March 11 to March 13, 2010

Grad MATTHEW CARTER had his MFA thesis exhibition "Insincere Utopias" at the Bolsky Gallery from March 9 to March 16, 2010.

Alum ANNIE BUCKLEY ‘03 participated in a reading to benefit publisher Dzanc Books at Thomas Jancar Gallery on March 20, 2010.

Dutch exchange resident artists JETSKE VERHOEVEN and MARIEKE COPPENS arrived on March 1 for a two month stay at Otis, while Otis alums NINA LAURINOLLI '09 and ANA RODRIGUEZ '09 departed for Amsterdam on March 2 to be guests of the Sandberg Institute.

Alums KENNETH COWAN ‘06 and WHITNEY STOLICH ‘04, selected to travel to France last October as part of the JEUNES TALENTS project, will show the results of their research in the group show French Impressions curated by Tim B. Wride at Louis Stern Fine Arts from April 7 to April 21, 2010.

"1962": New Paintings by LAWRENCE GIPE ‘86 was at Lora Schlesinger Gallery in Santa Monica from April 3 to May 15, 2010.

Grad Fine Arts chair ROY DOWELL took part in three group exhibitions: Ends and Means at Lennon Weinberg Gallery, NY from April 8 to May 15, Works in Edition at Margo Leavin Gallery, Los Angeles, from April 17  to May 19, 2010 and New Art for a New Century at Orange County Museum of Art in Newport Beach, May 2 to September 19, 2010.

Alum KRIS VAGNER ‘02 was in the group show Playland, curated by Elaine Parks at Newark Art at Sea  from April 3 to May 31 2010.

Alum AMANDA KELLER-KONYA ‘09 showed her work in Month of Photography Los Angeles (MOPLA) at The Loft at Liz’s in Los Angeles from April 10 – April 30, 2010.

Grad JENNIFER WOLF had her MFA thesis exhibition A Place Without a Place in the Bolsky Gallery from March 22 to March 27, 2010.

Graduate faculty RENEE PETROPOULOS and JUDIE BAMBER, alums ANA RODRIGUEZ ‘09, WHITNEY STOLICH ‘04 and grad EDITH BEAUCAGE participated in the Santa Monica Museum's silent auction "Incognito" On May 1, 2010.

Alum LORENZO HURTADO '08 has an exhibition "by Deborah Calderwood" at CB1 Gallery from April 24 to May 23, 2010.

The Annenberg Space for Photography exhibited alum AMANDA KELLER-KONYA'S ‘09 work "Specimens"from North America's Most Polluted River in the "Water Our Thirsty World" slideshow on Thursday, April 22 2010.

On Saturday April 17th 2010, alum SOJUNG KWON ‘07 gave a talk at Barnes & Noble  at The Grove at the Farmers Market  in conjunction with the exhibition "Planning a Year -Sundays & Mondays" which was at Angels Gate Cultural Center March 21-April 25 2010.

Alum KAREN NAKASHIMA ‘02 is in "Solo Show- Karen Nakashima" from April 24-May 23 at James Gray Gallery in Santa Monica.

ROY DOWELL, Chair of Graduate Fine Arts, is featured in the May 2010 issue of ART news Magazine, Critic's Pick: Collage Educated by Hunter Drohojowska-Philp.
