She paints her subjects with severe, exaggerated features and emaciated limbs that sometimes morph into abstraction, recalling the works of Pablo Picasso. “Some people ask if I hate the models I paint,” she says. “I say no, I don't hate them.

  • A dynamic portrait of the life of computer prodigy Aaron Swartz who championed free speech and data sharing, this must-see documentary premiered at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah and was the opening night film at the 2014 Hot Docs International Film Festival in Toronto, Canada. 

    We're excited the film’s director Brian Knappenberger will be our special guest speaker for the Q & A moderated by Movies that Matter series producers Judy Arthur and Perri Chasin after the screening.

Dutch exchange resident artists JETSKE VERHOEVEN and MARIEKE COPPENS arrived on March 1 for a two month stay at Otis, while Otis alums NINA LAURINOLLI '09 and ANA RODRIGUEZ '09 departed for Amsterdam on March 2 to be guests of the Sandberg Institute.

Alums KENNETH COWAN ‘06 and WHITNEY STOLICH ‘04, selected to travel to France last October as part of the JEUNES TALENTS project, will show the results of their research in the group show French Impressions curated by Tim B. Wride at Louis Stern Fine Arts from April 7 to April 21, 2010.

Grad Fine Arts chair ROY DOWELL took part in three group exhibitions: Ends and Means at Lennon Weinberg Gallery, NY from April 8 to May 15, Works in Edition at Margo Leavin Gallery, Los Angeles, from April 17  to May 19, 2010 and New Art for a New Century at Orange County Museum of Art in Newport Beach, May 2 to September 19, 2010.

The Annenberg Space for Photography exhibited alum AMANDA KELLER-KONYA'S ‘09 work "Specimens"from North America's Most Polluted River in the "Water Our Thirsty World" slideshow on Thursday, April 22 2010.

On Saturday April 17th 2010, alum SOJUNG KWON ‘07 gave a talk at Barnes & Noble  at The Grove at the Farmers Market  in conjunction with the exhibition "Planning a Year -Sundays & Mondays" which was at Angels Gate Cultural Center March 21-April 25 2010.
