XAVIER VENDRELL is an architect and founder of Xavier Vendrell Studio, Chicago/Barcelona, a collaborative practice that engages a wide range of disciplines and scales including urban design, landscape architecture, architecture, interiors and exhibition design. Mr. Vendrell’s work has been recognized with many awards including First Prize Competition Fontsanta Park, Metropolitan Area of Barcelona, Barcelona; First Prize Competition for Public Housing in Besalu, Spain, Institut Catala del Sol; the FAD Award of Architecture for the Riumar School, Deltebre, Tarragon and an AIA Chicago Interior Architecture Award, Citation of Merit, among others. Mr. Vendrell is a Professor in the School of Architecture at the University of Illinois at Chicago and also travels to Alabama once each month to serve as a Consultant to The Rural Studio.

This lecture was organized by the Department of Architecture/Landscape/Interiors Otis College of Art and Design and made possible through a generous donation from the Angelo Donghia Foundation. The lecture is free and open to the public. Self parking is recommended at the Walt Disney Concert Hall, located one block north of the museum on Grand Avenue. Parking is a flat rate of $9/car after 4:30 PM.

The ANGELO DONGHIA FOUNDATION, INC., a privately held not-for-profit organization created under the will of the late Angelo Donghia, provides support for two distinct fields: the advancement of education in the field of interior design and initiatives pertaining to the discovery of causes of AIDS and its related diseases, and their methods of treatment.

Architecture/Landscape/Interiors offers a synthetic curriculum of the spatial design fields. For information about the lecture or department, please call 310.665.6867 or email
