Description
This 2 unit intensive course will provide students with an exciting alternative to traditional classroom-based learning. Students will experience first-hand historical and contemporary aspects of the New York art world.
In late spring, students will travel to New York City for a week. They will meet and interact with leaders in the art world, and tour renowned and emerging galleries as well as world-class museums. During the semester and trip, students will maintain an e-journal, and conclude the term with a presentation of their experience.
Students will visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art, MOMA, PS1, The Whitney Museum, The Frick Collection, The New Museum, The Brooklyn Museum, Dia Beacon, galleries in Chelsea, Midtown, Lower East side and Brooklyn, as well as artists’ studios.
