Copyright/Royalty-Free Collections   Best Copyright-Free Photo Libraries  - Links to 12 US Government collections with images in the public domain.
    Stock.xchng - FREE royalty-free images. (Requires sign-up.)
    Open Photo - Moderated photo community with the goal of uniting image consumers and producers through friendly Creative Commons licensing. (Royalty-free images, many of which are free.)
    Open Clip Art Library - Clip art images available for downloading and remixing; all images are in the public domain.
    Flickr Creative Commons - Searches Flickr CC-labeled images which may be used under certain conditions such as attribution. Check rights before use. You can also search directly through Flickr Advanced Search.
     
Architecture and Urban Design   ArchNet - Collection of images, books, maps, drawings, and more of architecture and urban design in the Muslim world.
    SAH Image Exchange - Pilot project by the Society of Architectural Historians for educators to share images.
    Renaissance and Baroque Architecture - Slides taken by Professor C. W. Westfall. Some large, some not.

    Papyrus Collection - The University of Michigan has made its large collection of papyrus fragments available digitally.
     
Historical Images and Documents   American Memory Project - Powered by the Library of Congress, the site offers access to images and documents of US history from different institutions.
   

Calisphere - The California Digital Library offers this collection of images of California history. (Images vary in size.)

    Library of Congress Prints and Photographs Collection - The online catalog contains many images of items from their collection, some of which are public domain.
    Historical Anatomies on the Web - The National Libraries of Medicine has posted excellent images from many antique books on anatomy.
    Visible Earth - NASA project. Some of these images may also be available in NIX (NASA Image Exchange), which is available through the Otis DID.
