Other L.A. Libraries

Otis does not have an official Inter-Library Loan Program. However, we are happy to assist students and faculty in finding the resources that they need. In many cases, it's more cost effective to buy material than participate in inter-library loan programs. We mayalso be able to have needed articles sent to us.
Borrowing Privileges at other libraries.	As part of our SCELC membership, Otis Faculty now use other SCELC libraries. For information on this program, click here. You will need an Otis photo ID and a form filled out by the Director of the Library at Otis.
Interlibrary Loan	The Getty Research Library will send us copies of a limited number of articles from their journals. Please contact Sue with requests. Otis Faculty are also eligible for a Stack Reader Card.
L.A. Libraries Available to the Otis Community
Loyola Marymount University Loyola Policies	Library access is limited at Loyola. Daily access fees are $5. If you live in Westchester (90045), you may allow you free access to the library. Be prepared to show an ID with local address. Any student may purchase a Loyola library card with limited borrowing privileges for a fee of $200 and a deposit of $100. Oits Faculty:The Library membership in SCELC may help qualify you for borrowing privileges. Speak to Sue Maberry, if interested.
Los Angeles Public Library	With an LAPL card, you can requisition materials from any branch in the entire LA area to be sent to a convenient local branch, including the Loyola Village Branch across the street. The resources are vast. This is an excellent option for many resource needs. There are also numerous full-text databases available through the LAPL site (with library card number).
County of Los Angeles Public Libraries	There's a branch in Marina del Rey and any California resident is eligible to borrow materials. This is L.A.'s other public library system, covering areas not counted as part of the actual city.
Beverly Hills Public Library	Students can get a free library card with a California ID from a city within the metropolitan L.A. area. The Fine Arts Division of the Library is excellent with a large collection of books, video tapes, DVDs, compact discs, cassette tapes, a circulating slide library, sheet music, and CD-ROMs.
Getty Research Library	Visiting the Getty Research Library has never been easier. The Library is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Call (310) 440-7390 and make an appointment. Parking will be free. For further information about visiting, click here. Getty library materials do not circulate. Plaza Reader Privileges are easily granted. Please show your Otis ID. Materials from storage may be paged for use in the library. Otis faculty, graduate students, and other students with extensive research needs may apply for Stack Reader Privileges and use the open stack and reading areas of the Library. Reference Librarians will be on hand to assist you, but don't expect them to do the research for you. Search their OPAC first and make sure they have what you need before you go.
UCLA Arts Library	1400 Public Policy Building Hours Obtaining a UCLA Library Card ($100 per year) Otis Faculty may obtain free access. External Users Eligible for Free Cards: "Faculty and librarians from accredited institutions of higher education in the state of California in accordance with the state's Master Plan for Higher Education."
Melvyl	Melvyl is a computer-based library system for the California Digital Library, a shared library of the University of California (UC). The Catalog database contains records for books and other materials owned by any of the UC campuses, including UCLA. It also contains records for the California State Library in Sacramento and several other California institutions. California Digital Library.
World Cat	WorldCat is the world's largest network of library content and services. If you find a book you want, you can find it in any member libraries near by. Otis and smaller libraries may have the book, but we aren't members, so it won't show up.
