Why you became interested in the Peer Mentor program?
The peer mentor program is a program that I had been hoping Otis would create since my Foundation year. I want to be that reassuring voice to help incoming students know that they have someone who understands.
Most memorable moment as a first year student:
The night that I got home from winter break, right after my boyfriend of 2 1/2 years broke up with me. I was walking back to my apartment feeling pretty glum and I ran into my Resident Assistant. Lawrence Martin. He ordered us a pizza, we watched one of my roommate's metal band documentaries. That's exactly what I needed.
What did you wish to know as a first year student:
I wish I would have known that it was okay to make mistakes and there's nothing wrong with asking for help.
What is it like to be part of the diverse community at Otis?
I've loved Otis from the start. The people, the interests, the cultures, everything about Otis has inspired me, confused me, intrigued me, and has been exactly what I always dreamed art school would be. Being a student at Otis is like finally feeling that you aren't the weird one and that you have a space to be yourself.
