Sustainable approaches to toy design
02/14/13
At the annual N.Y. Toy Fair from Feb. 1-13, more than 150,000 new products were unveiled. Otis toy design students spent 29 days in China last summer designing bamboo toys for a sustainable future. The German company Hape International sponsored the research and development project, in which students exchanged ideas with local craftspeople, manufacturers, and educators; explored Hape's bamboo forests; toured factories in Ningbo, and created designs for toddler games and construction sets. Their focus was on sustainable product design and production. See video.
