  • Otis College of Art and Design and The Art and Design Department at California State University Dominguez Hills will be partnering to bring two Ceramics Artist, Diego Romero ('90) and Michael Sherrill to give a guest lecture and workshop demonstration to take place at both campuses in conjunction with the 73rd Scripps Ceramic Annua, curated by Joan Takayama-Ogawa (Otis College Faculty member).

    James Hannaham is the author of the novels Delicious Foods, which won the 2016 PEN/Faulkner Award, and God Says No, a Stonewall Honor Book and a Lambda Literary Award finalist.

  • Asher Hartman is an interdisciplinary artist, playwright and director whose work at the junction of visual art and theater centers on the exploration of the self in relation to Western histories and ideologies. 

  • The Rodina will present Designing the Leadership, a workshop on action, graphic design and critical thinking. The Rodina was founded in 2011 by Czech-born, Amsterdam-based designers Tereza and Vit Ruller. The studio specialises in video, interactive, installations and visual identities. Event is reserved for Otis MFA students only.

Randall Lavender is a nationally and internationally exhibited artist whose painting and sculpture are included in numerous public and private collections, and have been reviewed or featured in dozens of articles, books, and catalogues. Professor Lavender joined the Otis faculty in 1983, following faculty appointments at Vanderbilt University, Claremont Graduate University, and California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. He served as Associate Chair of Otis’ Foundation Program for more than a decade before joining the College's Senior Team and serving as Interim co-Provost, Vice Provost, and Acting Provost. Lavender earned his M.F.A. at Claremont Graduate University and a B.A. from California State University, Fullerton. He has consulted for institutions nationally on issues of art/design in higher education, and has published essays and articles on art in higher education, educational psychology, contemporary culture, and best teaching practices in leading art education journals, including Studies in Art Education, Journal of Aesthetic Education, and Foundations in Art Theory (F.A.T.E.) in Review.
