Otis College BFA Fine Arts Seniors, Suhey Elias, Tristyn Huggins, Chloe Kiedaisch, Sophia Kokkali, Sam Meza, and Nagisa Mizushima invite you to their group exhibition, Synthetic Presence, in the Bolsky Gallery on view through October 15, 2021.

About the exhibition:

BFA Fine Arts Visiting Artist Lecture Series: David Hartt

Born in Montréal in 1967, David Hartt lives and works in Philadelphia, where he is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Fine Arts at the Weitzman School of Design, University of Pennsylvania.

Hartt creates work that unpacks the social, cultural, and economic complexities of his various subjects. He explores how historic ideas and ideals persist or transform over time.

BFA Fine Arts Visiting Artist Lecture Series: Candida Alvarez

Candida Alvarez (b. 1955 in Brooklyn, NY) received her B.F.A. from Fordham University and her M.F.A. from Yale School of Art.

Alvarez is widely regarded as one of the most highly innovative and experiemental painters of her generation.  She grew up in New York City and moved to Chicago in the late 1990s. Since establishing herself as an artist in the 1980s, Alvarez has expanded on a conceptually rich, intuitive process of building abstract paintings. Alvarez’s breadth of practice incorporates drawings, photography, and printmaking.

Fine Arts Visiting Artist Lecture Series: Zen Sekizawa

Zen Sekizawa has been working as a photographer, director, and artist for over two decades in her hometown of Los Angeles, CA. She is second-generation Angeleno and fourth-generation Japanese-American. Her childhood was spent at The Atomic Cafe, a Los Angeles punk rock institution, owned and operated for over four decades by her family in Little Tokyo. Raised in and surrounded by creativity, chaos, music, dark humor, and the inclusivity of the cafe, she has formed a surreal, funny, and beautifully subversive aesthetic that is all her own.
