Hello, my name is Maria Laura Hendrix, I am graduating with an MFA-FA degree from Otis College of Art and Design in May 2020. I work in various mediums such as painting, printmaking, ceramics. As a Teaching Assistant at the undergraduate and graduate level, I had the opportunity to engage with various departments, including teaching classes, in art theory, large scale murals, company re-branding, and exhibition installation. Some highlights include teaching undergraduates how to interact/collaborate with elementary age students and other community partners. I worked on the following community-based projects: Created art in collaboration with ECF artist, helped design murals, and re-branding for Westport Heights Elementary. I assisted with research and design for a mural, info graphics, and activities learning sheets for LACAC and Stoneview Nature Center. And I programmed free community events at Sidebar at the Graduate Studios in Culver City.

7:30 Resolute, 2019, 36 x 48 inches, acrylic on canvas depicts the silhouette of a female figure with arms crossed. The form is fragmented by the doubling of the figure and by blocks of color. The missing facial features heighten the resolute frontal stance of the figure as it confronts the viewer. This painting was part of my thesis show titled Hasta La Raiz /To the Roots in January 2020.
