Art Education Certificate: Info Session

Whether you are interested in becoming a teaching artist or a credentialed art teacher, the Art Education Certificate Program prepares you for starting your career as an arts educator. Join our virtual info session to meet Otis instructors and learn about Otis Extension’s Certificate Programs in Art Education.

• The Art Education Certificate Program provides intensive study in art education for individuals who already hold a BA, BFA, MA, or MFA in Fine Art / Design / Media Art. Offered in collaboration with Otis’s Artist, Community, and Teaching (ACT) Program, the certificate program offers two specializations to choose from.
• The Teacher Credential Preparation Specialization prepares individuals for obtaining the California Single Subject in Art Teaching Credential (required for teaching in California grades K-12 public schools), according to the CA Commission on Teacher Credentialing Subject Matter in Art requirements.
• The Teaching Artist Specialization prepares individuals for positions that do not require a credential, such as teaching artist in K-12 public or private schools, artists in residence programs, correctional facilities, museum education departments, non-profit arts organizations, etc.
