Paul Hutchinson Schmetterlinge, Nongfu Spring, 2016

Paul Hutchinson (b. 1987 in Berlin, Germany) received his B.F.A. from the University of Arts in Berlin and his M.F.A. from the Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London, UK.

In his photographic practice and in his writing, Hutchinson considers phenomena of modern day urban life, such as youth culture, social housing architecture, and conditions of social mobility. Oscillating between moments of intimacy and fragility, inner city roughness, and political statement, he always understands his artistic work as an attempt to create a contemporary and individual vision of the times we live in.

His work has been shown at Vienna Contemporary, Austria; Arco Madrid, Spain; Galerie Sabine Knust, Munich, Germany; Galerie Nina Sagt, Düsseldorf, Germany, amongst others. He is a fellow of Villa Aurora, Los Angeles, and currently lives and works in Berlin.
