Description: Explore the intersection of photography and drawing with the city of Los Angeles (or an alternative location) as the subject. In this workshop, students create a work of art on paper that translates a location into visual information. When a snapshot is taken, this document is missing so much - topography, smells, sounds, textures, temperature, etc. This workshop employs digital photography, graphite, acrylic paint, collage, and image transfer as the mediums to document your surroundings. The results will vary, some may be representational, while others will be quite abstracted. The first half of the workshop will prepare students to create a piece by learning a variety of mark making techniques with a range of materials and also examining the work of contemporary artists working in the field of mixed media. Then, students will create one final piece that records the location or memory they are most interested in investigating. This could be as micro as a corner of their neighborhood or as macro as a slice of the city they are most familiar with.

More information and the link to enroll here. Tuition for this workshop is $120.
