Lauren Halsey was born in Los Angeles, California in 1987. She builds fantasy sculptures and environments that remix ephemera she gathers with Los Angeles geographies, hyperreal nature, technicolors, outer space, and Funk. The works exist as spatial metaphors for liberation, self-definition, displacement, and love. Halsey currently has a solo exhibition at MOCA where she constructed a durational installation of Funk grottos with waterfalls for the public to inhabit. She also has a large scale prototype architecture currently included in The Hammer Museum's biennial Made In LA 2018.
