Celia Lacayo is a Los Angeles Scholar who holds a doctorate in ethnic studies from the University of California, Berkeley. She is currently a postdoctoral scholar at UCLA with the Institute of American Cultures in the sociology department. Her research focuses on race and ethnicity, immigration and media. In her multi-method dissertation "Mapping Latino Racialization: White Attitudes Towards Latinos and Policy Preferences in Orange County California," she examined white attitudes towards Latinos and their policy preferences, as well as the role of media stereotypes to understand contemporary race relations and stratification.
