Special Lecture: Architect Yang Chen

Mr. Yang Chen worked in real estate development companies for eight years and in architecture design companies for fourteen years, serving as architect, General Manager, and Executive President. From 2002 to 2007 he was General Manager of China Construction Design International (CCDI) Shanghai and COO of its headquarters in Shenzhen. He played a significant role in CCDI’s transition from a regional company of around 100 employees to a national corporation of over 3000 employees. At this time, CCDI is the largest privately-owned architecture design firm in China, famous for its design of the iconic National Aquatics Center (Water Cube) and several other venues for the 2008 Olympics.

In 2008, Mr. Yang Chen established ADU Management Consulting Company and pioneered the incorporation of practical interactive workshops into management training for the design industry. Over two-hundred executives and managers have completed ADU’s training course since its launch. In recent months, ADU has been working with Tencent, Huawei, Urban Planning & Design Institute of Shenzhen and three other companies to launch an incubator project called City Dreamwork, focusing on urban public products and service development.

Mr. Yang Chen will present information about the architecture industry and job market in China, with examples of projects that that he’s worked on and/or managed.

*Mr. Chen will speak in Mandarin Chinese.
