Plein Air Drawing with Gary Geraths
Derived from the French, en plein air means 'in open air'. Take inspiration amidst the breezes of Palisades Park, surrounded by lush views of the landscape, ocean, and pier, as well as the bustling street life of Ocean Avenue. In this lightly guided day of drawing outside, Gary Geraths, artist and instructor from Otis College of Art and Design, will be on hand to help you put pencil to paper. Wear sun protection and comfortable clothing. Includes drawing supplies.

Camera Obscura: Tracing 360˚ with DJ Hall
Join distinguished artist DJ Hall for this unique workshop, which utilizes the Camera Obscura for one of this vintage technology's original purposes. We'll be covering the viewing platter with paper and inviting participants to trace outlines from our 360˚ view. Practice outline and observation of bustling street life or tranquil landscapes from the fascinating remove of a dark room. Includes drawing supplies.
DJ Hall, BFA, University of Southern California. Ms. Hall is an accomplished fine artist who is represented by the Koplin Del Rio Gallery in Los Angeles. Honors and awards include: "D.J. Hall Papers," included in the Archives of American Art, at the Smithsonian Institution (Washington, DC) and the 6th Annual Heritage Award, presented by the Santa Monica Heritage Museum for contributions to the cultural heritage of the Santa Monica Bay Community. Her work has been shown in solo exhibitions at the Palm Springs Art Museum and Koplin Del Rio Gallery. She is a past recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts, Artists' Fellowship (painting).
Portrait Drawing with Ken Jones
Join artist and Otis College of Art and Design Continuing Education instructor, Ken Jones, for this drop-in workshop focused on drawing the human face and head. Participants work from a live model with emphasis on expression, emotion, and likeness. Include drawing supplies.
