On January 29, award-winning graphic designer and Visiting Artist Ludovic Balland will present a public lecture
at Otis College. Balland will also participate in a roundtable discussion with graphic design and advertising students and interested alumni.
The Swiss graphic designer specializes in typography, typesetting, and conceiving book projects. In 2004, he established the graphic design studio Ludovic Balland Typography Cabinet
, which focuses on book design, general editorial design, and new visual identities for international brands and cultural institutions. Balland also teaches at the University of Art and Design in Lausanne and has held workshops across Europe and the U.S.
The designer is visiting Los Angeles with support from CalArts, which offers international guests opportunities to do unique projects and events at different locations. Balland’s collaboration at CalArts will involve further developing "The Day After Reading
," an online editorial project that questions the reading habits of American news readers.
