Digital Media Student Nick Edinger Designs Memorial

Student-designed memorial of slain DEA agent

Nick Edinger, a digital media student in his third year at Otis College of Art and Design, has designed the memorial of a slain Drug Enforcement Administration agent whose 1985 death was the impetus for the annual Red Ribbon Week.

The artist-commissioned memorial was unveiled Wednesday at a ceremony held at an elementary school in Los Angeles. The event also included anti-drug performances, essay contests, and speeches by distinguished law enforcement and community members.

Edinger is originally from Bismarck, ND. He joined the Marines in 2006 and served for 5 years until 2011. During that time he did a tour in Afghanistan, served in the Marine Corp Recruit Depot in San Diego as well as at Camp Pendleton in the Marine Core Base Camp.
