Enrollment Status

NON-CREDIT

No grades are given in the course, and no permanent academic records are kept by the Extension Registration and Records Office.

COLLEGE AND CERTIFICATE CREDIT SEEKING STUDENTS

Credit students receive a letter grade (A-F), and a permanent record (transcript) is kept on file in the Office of Registration and Records. Credit students are required to complete additional classwork in order to successfully complete a course. In accordance with the WASC and NASAD accreditation standards, courses meeting for 30-36 hours, receive 1.0 unit of course credit.

As an accredited institution, credits are offered in semester units; most studio courses are one undergraduate unit. In the Otis College Extension Department, one semester hour of studio credit represents a minimum of three hours of work each week, on the average, for a semester of 10 –12 weeks. Summer session may vary in course hours and duration of classes.

Credit and certificate students are required to adhere to academic regulations as outlined in the Student Handbook concerning class attendance and completion of work. Any student may enroll in Credit Status.
