Color Pencil Painting
The color pencil may seem like a simple tool, but don’t underestimate its versatility. Artists are exploring the creative potential of this medium, and galleries and collectors are taking notice. This course teaches the basic skills and processes of making a color pencil painting. Using wax or oil-based color pencils, students work with still-life subject matter and photographic compositions. Special attention is given to drawing and underpainting techniques to establish the value range, color layering and blending, color mixing, and the process of building the surface. Also, critiques help students develop their personal style and aesthetic.
