The Strange and the Magical in the Third Dimension: Grades 6-8
What would the magical or strange land of your imagination look like? This course focuses on developing your imagination and artistic vision as well as understanding the visual language of landscape such as foreground, middle ground, and background. Focusing on landscape as a subject, construct 3-dimensional sculptural environments using simple materials such as wire, clay, cardboard, tape, glue, and tempera paint. Learning to cut, bend, and glue cardboard like an expert, you will create installations of fantastic cities and imaginary landscapes. The course includes learning about various movements that incorporate landscape into their practice such as Surrealism, Pop-Surrealism, and installation art.
