Surface Design Digital Creation
Learn to develop surface design collections using the efficiency and tools of today’s software. Working directly with the Adobe Creative Suite students are exposed to many styles and techniques for creating new designs. In contrast to analog techniques learned in other studio courses, in this course students focus on drawing vector based patterns in Illustrator and digital painting in Photoshop. Lectures include design methodology, professional opportunities, artist case studies, design themes and product categories. Instruction includes discussion and demonstration of the various methods of repeat processes used to create overall design pattern and color mixing and application. Through structured hands-on design problems, students execute finished textile/surface designs in collections suitable for a portfolio, and application of designs to product mock ups.
Learning Objectives: Mastery of surface design collections using the efficiency and tools of software.
