Introduction to Painting: Materials and Techniques
The course to take if you’ve never picked up a paintbrush. To learn the basic skills and processes of painting, students start with simple subject matter such as still life and reproduction. Emphasis is on seeing like a painter—the role of contrast and color as value—as well as color mixing, paint as a material, and the process of building the surface. Students can choose oil or acrylics. To brush up on their new skills, students may repeat the course.
Prerequisite: XDWG1001 Drawing and Composition or equivalent experience.
