Textile Surface Design IIA
From dresses to window dressings, repeat surface patterns are everywhere. Building on the fundamentals learned in Textile/Surface Design IA, students explore new design concepts and themes for coordinated collections and focus on practical applications for home décor, fashion and stationery, craft and gift markets. Lectures include design problem solving from initial concept to finished product, printing processes for a variety of materials and technologies, how to use the Pantone color system, and historical artist case studies. Students complete surface design projects for a quilt fabric collection, ceramic tiles, scarves, dinnerware, bedding, and home furnishings, suitable for their portfolio.
