Heirloom Tomatoes in Watercolor / Colored Pencil: Botanical Illustration

This 2-day drawing / painting workshop explores the world of heirloom tomatoes. Students will learn how to convey the perception of light and shadow, which is essential in drawing any subject. Demonstrations will include mixing color and the application of continuous tone. Prior experience in drawing botanical subject matter would be helpful. Classes will be held indoors at The Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden in Arcadia.

SUPPLIES:

PAPER: Watercolor: Hot press watercolor paper 140 lb. (sheets or block)  Colored Pencil: Your choice of drawing paper

BRUSHES: Kolinsky Sable 4, 8, 10 and minature sable 4/6 are suggested

COLORED PENCILS: Prismacolor or similar

PAINTS: Professional grade watercolor

OTHER: water jar, ox gall, porcelain mixing palette, paper towels
