Spotlight Category: Alumni
This summer don’t miss the work of several Otis College alumni and faculty at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
Bari Kumar: Remembering the Future” at LACMA's off-site gallery at Charles White Elementary School features work by Fine Arts alumnus Bari Kumar ('88). As part of LACMA’s ongoing engagement with the community, the museum has paired Kumar’s work alongside a selection of objects from LACMA’s South and Southeast Asian Art collection dating from the ninth through the early 20th century. The exhibit is on view until June 13, 2015.
The recently opened “Drawing in L.A.: The 1960s and 70s” features work by former faculty member Charles White, alumnus Kent Twitchell ('77 MFA), Graduate Public Practice Chair Suzanne Lacy, alumnus Billy Al Bengston (’57), and Fine Arts faculty member Scott Grieger. Culled from LACMA’s collection and select local holdings, "Drawing in L.A." features work by nearly 50 artists who approach drawing in numerous media and styles. The exhibition provides a unique opportunity to see the wide variety of drawings that were being made in Los Angeles at an exciting time in the city's artistic history. "Drawing in L.A." is on view until August 2, 2015.
