Alum EDITH BEAUCAGE 2010 had her debut solo show “Sequencer-Spectrum-Reverb” at Luis De Jesus Gallery from September 10-October 22, 2016.

Alum ZEAL HARRIS ’07 has been awarded the title of Artist-in-Residence at Camera Obscura Arts Lab (a.k.a. COAL) next to the Santa Monica Pier for three months starting August 2016. For this year’s Blk Grrrl Book Fair, HARRIS made a special edition of prints. HARRIS’S group exhibit "Viral: 25 Years Since Rodney King" opened at Sparc Gallery in Venice, CA and it is now moving to the Betti Ono Gallery in Oakland, CA. The opening is scheduled for mid-September. She participated in “43: From Ayotzinapa to Ferguson," an early summer exhibit at Self-Help Graphics Gallery in Los Angeles. A solo-show featuring a selections from her latest series of artworks will open on October 15th and will run until November 18th at Gallery 825 in Los Angeles. ZEAL HARRIS is also included in a group exhibit of selections from the permanent collection of the California African-American Museum on view until September 18th.

Alum Bryan Ricci '2012 has a new solo exhibition, Chromophilia, at TWFINEΑΡΤ in Brisbane, Australia from August 5 – September 5, 2016

GFA Professor RENEE PETROPOULOS staged a new work, Cheek by Jowl, performed/read at 7:00pm on August 25 2016 at Hauser Wirth and Schimmel in Los Angeles. The work was read and performed by GFA Professor KATHRIN BURMESTER, and alums JANET E. DANDRIDGE ’16, ELIF ERKAN ’16 and REBECCA TULL-YATES ’13 among others.

Alum ZEAL HARRIS ‘07 participated in a one-day pop-up traveling group art exhibition, called Art-In-The-Street, a Maiden LA project organized by artist Michael Gomez Burton, occurring on Thursday, August 4th, 2016, 10am-6pm.

Alum JESSICA MINCKLEY ’13 had a video included in BIFF (Bandini Intl Film Fest) at Arturo Bandini in Highland Park in July 2016. MINCKLEY also participated in the Champagne Social at 18th St with the group Alternative/Radical Pedagogies on July 24, 2016.

Alum ZAC ROACH '16 (Night Work) and Grad JOCELYN CASAS (Open Wound) completed their one-month residency at Fundacion Sebastian in Mexico City with a two-person exhibition from July 28 to August 4, 2016.

Alum LORENZO HURTADO SEGOVIA ’07 installed a New Muralentitled Demos Gracias in 2259 Avenida de la Playa, La Jolla.

Alum COLEEN STERRITT ’79 was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship for 2016.

Alum JOE SOLA ‘99 had a solo exhibition, Mertzbau, at Tif Sigfrids Gallery in Hollywood from July 16 to August 20, 2016.

Alum TAYLOR TSCHIDER ’11 participated in the group exhibition Perfect Day at Roberts and Tilton from July 16 to August 20, 2016.

Alum WENDY GIVEN ’02 will show her works in a group show, "The Garden of Unearthly Delights", curated by Jerry Cullum at Whitespace Gallery in Atlanta, GA opening August 5th-September 10, 2016.

Alum ALEXANDER KROLL '08 showed his work as part of GRAFFORISTS curated by Max Presneill at Torrance Art Museum from June 18 to August 13, 2016.

Alum ELIF ERKAN’S ’16 work will be included in “CAPITAL: DEBT ­TERRITORY UTOPIA” at the Hamburger Bahnhof ­ Museum Fur Genewart ­ Berlin from July 2, 2016 ­ Nov 6, 2017.

For the months of July and August 2016 GFA faculty ANNETTA KAPON’S Proxy Gallery hosted a one person exhibition Untitled (Great Planes) by ROGER WHITE.

For the months of September 2016 GFA faculty ANNETTA KAPON’S Proxy Gallery is hosting an exhibition by ELIZABETH BRYANT and HILJIA KEADING.

GFA faculty KORI NEWKIRK was selected for the first Public Art Biennial in Los Angeles. Current: LA Water that will be on view throughout Los Angeles in July and August 2016.

Alum MATTHEW CARTER '10 work will be included in "Holdings: Selections From MCASD's Collection" at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego from June 3 to Sept 4, 2016.

Alum ERIC SARBACH ’13 took part in the group exhibition Electron Salon at LACDA from July 14 to August 12, 2016.
