GFA Assistant chair ANNETTA KAPON was awarded an Niarchos/Fullbright Greek Diaspora fellowship to work with the Athens School of Fine Arts.

Alum ANDREW CURREY ’15 has work featured in an upcoming LA art magazine called ART MUZEO, coming out January 15. www.artmuzeomagazine.com/shop

GPP alum LILI BERNARD ‘16 was featured in an interview with Katherine McMahon in ARTnews of July 2016. L.A. Habitat: Lili Bernard | ARTnews. BERNARD was also a 2016 Awardee of the Emerging Artists Program 2016-2017 of MoAD Museum of African Diaspora and took part in the California Community Foundation’s We Are Los Angeles 2016 Artists. In December 2015 she was awarded the Joan Mitchell Foundation Finalist Grant.

Alums LISA OXLEY ’12 and ALEXANDER KROLL were in the show “The Night Opens/La Nuit S’Ouvre” at BLAM GALLERY LOS ANGELES, from Dec 3 to 31, 2016.

Alum MARCUS VILLAGRAN ’77 has a show Folk Tales from the Pacific Northwest and Other Bold Sculptures at Dunderberg Gallery in Gildbertsville NY from December 2, 2016 to Januuary 15, 2017.

GFA Professor RENEE PETROPOULOS celebrated the publication of Foret Interieur/Interior Forest Catalogue on Sunday Dec 4, 2016 at 18th street Art Center. PETROPOULOS participated in the Interior Forest Project in 2013.

Alum SHIVA ALIABADI ’14 is in a group show BLIND SPOT curated by Camella D. Kim from UCLA. The exhibit is at Design Matters, Los Angeles, December 10th 2016 through January 20th 2017. ALIABADI was also part of an artist panel with five other artists at Arizona State University’s Fine Arts Department in November, 2016, (Tempe, Arizona), and published an interview with LA artist Tessie Salcido Whitmore in December 2016 on her Blog Pulse Stream, https://pulsestream.wordpress.com Her exhibition on the Verge of an Image at the Gamble House got a second review: Clark, Artemis Marie Dolores. Alum WAKANA KIMURA ’11 presented a project during a paper offering ceremony on Sunday, December 4th, 2016 at the Zenshu-ji Soto mission temple in the Art District of Los Angeles.

Alum JEISUNG OH ’16 was awarded an artist’s residency in the south of France called “ Les ateliers des Arcs” from April to July 2017.

Alum KATY COWAN ’14 is in a three-person exhibition Top Heavy at Cherry and Martin Gallery in Los Angeles from November 5, 2016 - January 14, 2017

Alum CHRIS OATEY ’06 is in a group exhibition Abundant, Bountiful, and Beautiful, November 10, 2016 to March 19, 2017 at the Long Beach Museum of Art.

Alum SABINE DEHNEL ’03 participated in the group exhibition A PROMISE OF TRUTH -DAS ZEITGENÖSSISCHE PORTRÄT at Galerie Robert Drees in Hannover, Germany from November 18, 2016 to January 21, 2017

Grads ALEX KAY, SHIRIN BOLOURCHI and NATHAN GULICK had an exhibition Points of Connectivity at the OR Gallery in the GFA studios in Culver City from October 27 to November 3, 2016. Curated by ALEX KAY.

Grad Fine Arts Faculty ALLISON MILLER had a solo exhibition of new painting Screen Jaw Door Arch Prism Corner Bed at The Pit II in Glendale from November 13 to December 31, 2016.

Alum MIDGE LYNN ‘84 has a solo exhibition Synecdoche at Haley Henman Gallery 422 in Dallas TX from November 3 - December 4, 2016

For the months of November and December 2016 GFA faculty ANNETTA KAPON’S Proxy Gallery is hosting the exhibition Wood, Magnets and Iron Dust by Paris-based artist VERONIQUE JOUMARD.

Alum SHIVA ALIABADI ’14 is in a group show called British Invasion at the Museum of Art and History (MOAH) in Lancaster, CA from November 19, 2016 to January 22, 2017.

Alum JEFFREY VALLANCE ’81 has a one-person exhibition Now More Than Ever at Ed Cella Art and Architecture from November 5 to December 31, 2016.

Alum KIM FISHER ’98 has an exhibition a little bit of but at LAX><Art from November 12, 2016 to January 7, 2017.

Alum JANET DANDRIDGE ’16 was awarded the 2017 Otis-Cergy Residency exchange and will spend three months in Paris from February to April 2017.

Alum SABINE DEHNEL ’03 and GFA Assistant Chair ANNETTA KAPON are taking part in the group exhibition “Love” curated by alum SABINE DEHNEL at Atelier Schwab in Wertheim, Germany from October 21, 2016 to January 29, 2017.

Alum ZEAL HARRIS ’07 has work in “60 Americans II” curated by Terrence Sanders at the new Makeshift Museum in downtown Los Angeles. This group exhibit will continue touring on to New York in the Spring of 2017.

Alum SHIVA ALIABADI ’14 is in a show at the Gamble House in Pasadena, CA called On the Verge of an Image: Considering Marjorie Keller, curated by Alika Cooper and Anna Mayer via LAND (Los Angeles Nomadic Division) from Oct. 7th through December 12th, 2016

Alum KATY COWAN ’14 is part in the Wisconsin Triennial at Madison Museum of Contemporary Art from September 24 2016 to January 8, 2017 in Madison, WI.
