MFA FINE ARTS NEWSLETTER March 2018

A Special Exhibition in Seoul ASIA/LA ← → LA/ASIA runs from April 14 to April 22, 2018 at the ARA Art Center in Seoul, South Korea. The exhibition includes MFA Fine Arts faculty ROY DOWELL and RENEE PETROPOULOS.

Alum JACOB MELCHI’S ‘03 “Jacob’s” is showing Rema Ghuloum - Walking In The Dark which opens Saturday April 7th 2018 and by appointment through April 21st.

The May-June issue of Artillery Magazine features an article by Ezrha Jean Black on the work of MFA Fine Arts Professor JUDIE BAMBER.

The archive of Dr. MASAMI TERAOKA ’68 has been acquired by the Archive for American Art at the Smithsonian Institution.

Grad KEVIN COLIN had his MFA Thesis exhibition at the Bolsky Gallery at the Bolsky Gallery from April 9 to April 13, 2018.

Grad DEB ADAMS-WELLES had her MFA Thesis exhibition (extended mix) A Spatial Investigation of a Musical Form from March 29-31 at the Bolsky Gallery at Otis.

MFA Assistant Chair ANNETTA KAPON’S Proxy Gallery is showing the work “Safe House” by sculptor CHARLES DICKSON from April 1 to 30, 2018.

Alum JOE SOLA ’99 showed his work at NADA New York (with LAND: Los Angeles Nomadic Division) from March 8-11. 2018.

ROLLER NIGHT (March 6, 2018) was the inaugural event for SIDEBAR, a new experimental arts venue at the back room of Otis’s graduate studios. All events will be curated by XMALL, the participants of the Collaborative Projects II class: XOCHI MABERRY GAULKE, MARK FARINA, ANNA AYEROFF, LAUREN VAZQUEZ, KADE TWIST.

MFA FA Faculty ALLISON MILLER has a one-person exhibition “Feed Dogs” at Susan Inglett Gallery in NY from 15 March to 21 April 2018.

Alum RACHEL WOLFE ’15 is in an exhibition in Norway with some paintings from the Flat Bottom Boat project. March 9-11, 2018

Alum LORENZO HURTADO SEGOVIA ’07 received an Otis Excellence in Teaching Award for 2018, as Full Time faculty in the department of Communication Arts.

The exhibition is part of Endings, an exhibition of work by SRIJON CHOWDHURY and Bobbi Woods at the Art Gym, Portland, Oregon.
