Alum KRISTIN MOORE ’17 had a collection of her oil paintings featured in the Vignette Art Fair at the Texas Women’s Museum in Dallas TX (April 10-14th) during Dallas Arts Month.

Alum MARRILYN DUZY ’88 participated in Women: Celebration of la Femme March 23 thru May 3, 2019 at La Galeria Gitana in San Fernando CA. She also gave a lecture “Walking Through History: Women Artists Past & Present” on March 30, 2019.

OLIVIA FUNES LASTRA, exchange student from ENSAPC is with MFA FA till the end of April, 2019.

MFA FA OPEN STUDIOS is on April 14, 2019, and includes the participation of all MFA Fine Arts students, as well as the grads from MFA Writing and MFA Graphic Design.

MARK FARINA ’18 had his first public open studio on Friday March 15th and Saturday the 16th at Cité Internationale Des Arts in Paris.

Grad BELLE DUVALL ’19 had her MFA exhibition Vista in the Bolsky Gallery from March 9 to 17, 2019.

Grad MATT HOLLIS ’19 had his MFA exhibition The Ecstasy of Undoing in the Bolsky Gallery from March 18 to 31, 2019.

SEAN CULLY ’15 be showing his art with artists from Los Angeles and Rotterdam at the Torrance Art Museum from March 30th - May 18th, 2019.

MFA FA faculty KORI NEWKIRK took part in Candlewood Arts Festival from March 29-31, 2019 in Borrego springs, CA

MFA FA faculty CLETUS DALGLISCH SHOMMER spent two weeks in Paris as visiting professor at ENSAPC.

Professor YANN BEAUVAIS from ENSAPC Paris spent two weeks at MFA FA as a visiting professor of Otis.

Alum MARK X FARINA ‘18 exhibited in the group show "Santa Monica: Now & Then” Curated by Venice Institute of Contemporary Art hosted by BG Gallery Santa Monica from Feb 1st–28th.

Alum CHRIS OATEY ’06 showed his work in Ghostly Traces: Memory and Mortality in Contemporary Photography @ the Vicki Myhren Gallery at Denver University curated by Geoffrey Shamos from March 7 - April 21, 2019.

Alum YRNEH BROWN ’17 is showing his work in Breadth, curated by Jill Moniz at the Good Luck Gallery in Los Angeles from March 2 to May 5, 2019.

Alum COLEEN STERRITT ’79 is the recipient of the 2019 Outstanding Educator Award from the International Sculpture Center.

Grad CHLOE JEONGMYO KIM ’19 is included in the 2019 SoCal MFA Exhibition at Millard Sheets Art Center in Pomona, juried by Helen Molesworth. March 16 – April 6, 2019.

Alum WAKANA KIMURA ’11 her installation Moment on March 10 at Angel’s Gate Cultural Center in San Pedro CA.

Alum RAGHUBIR KINTISCH is in the group exhibition Ineffable at Keystone Gallery in Los Angeles March 2-10, 2019. Curated by Lorraine Heitzman.

Alum RAKSHA PAREKH ’04 and MFA faculty RENEE PETROPOULOS were in the exhibition SOMEWHERE IN BETWEEN at Kellogg and Huntley Art Galleries of Cal Poly Pomona from November 6, 2018 to March 17, 2019.

MFA FA-A+SP faculty KADE TWIST (part of POSTCOMMODITY) showed his work in Pittsburgh’s 57th Carnegie International, from Oct. 13 2018 through March 25, 2019, at the Carnegie Museum of Art. Postcommodity was awarded the Fine Prize for the 57th Carnegie International. Grads AMEERA DAAOOD, DEREK PRADO and MARIA LAURA HENDRIX were commissioned by the museum to create an event score in collaboration with three graduate students from San Francisco Art Institute.

Alum RANDI GANULIN ’96 installed “Arterial,” at Amazon in downtown Seattle, part of Shunpike's Storefronts project. She also exhibited ten “Paired Disaster” pieces at Blue Sky Gallery Photography Viewing Drawers in Portland through March 2019.

Alum LINDA ANDERSON ('74) has a solo exhibit of her fine art quilts at Front Porch Gallery in Carlsbad, Ca., from March 10-April 20th.

Alums CHARLEY ALEXANDER ‘12, BRYAN RICCI ‘12, JENNIFER WOLF ‘10 and former MFA Chair ROY DOWELL were in the exhibition Land of Milk and Honey at Backspace LA from February 2 to March 9, 2019.

Alum LUIS G. HERNANDEZ ‘03 participated in the group shows RE:UNION, 10-YEAR ANNIVERSARY SHOW at Durden and Ray, FEBRUARY 9 - MARCH 3, 2019; MODES OF PONDERING (co-organizes/shows work) at Steppling Gallery, San Diego State University, FEBRUARY 14 - MARCH 15, 2019; and the IVC ART FACULTY EXHIBITION at Lowe’s Gallery, Imperial Valley College, FEBRUARY 28 -MARCH 20, 2019.

Alum RACHEL WOLFE ‘15 is showing Solfége Souche, in Czong Institute for Contemporary Art (CICA), Korea, Summer 2019.

Alum ALISON SAAR ’81 gave a lecture at Otis as part of the MFA departments lecture series on Wednesday February 6, 2019. SAAR is also showing her work with David Hockney at LA LOUVER Gallery from 7 Feb - 23 Mar 2019.

MFA FA Professor RENEE PETROPOULOS will spend part of her Spring 2019 sabbatical in Sweden doing a residency at Iaspis.

Alum KARMA HENRY ’10 was awarded an Artist Residency at the Sonoran Desert Inn in Ajo, Arizona. She was one of two Visiting Artists from January 5-19, 2019.

Alum PATRICK HILL (‘2000) had a recent show at College of Creative Studies (Detroit) He also started a project called SOUTHFIELD, a gallery and imprint. He received a Pollock Krasner Foundation Grant in 2018.

MFA Interim Chair ANNETTA KAPON’S Proxy Gallery will host a one-person installation by alum LULU VALLEE ’99 from April 1-30, 2019.

Alum ANDREW K. CURREY ’14 has 3 pieces in the 33rd annual group show LALUZAPALOOZA from March 1 to 31, 2019 at La Luz de Jesus Gallery in Los Angeles.

Alum KATY COWAN ’14 will have a two-person exhibition The Day in the Night at Philip Martin Gallery in Los Angeles from March 2 - April 20, 2019. Cowan is also showing her work at The Armory Show / Katy Cowan with Philip Martin Gallery March 7 - March 10, 2019.

Alum JASON MCKECHNIE ’92 organized a group exhibition for Nuit Blanche at Christ Church Cathedral in Montreal, Canada, on March 2, 2019.

Grad JAMES ENRIQUEZ had his MFA Thesis exhibition “IS THIS ART???” at the Bolsky Gallery from March 3, 2019.

Alums MARCELA GOTTARDO ’14 and SHIVA ALIABADI ’14 participated in the group exhibition Fresh 2019 curated by Steven Wong at SoLA Gallery from March 23 to March 30, 2019.

Alum KARMA HENRY ’10 was at the Heard Museum's Indian Market in Phoenix, Arizona on March 2 and 3, 2019. She will have some of her works from her Sonoran Arts Residency.
