MFA FA professor KORI NEWKIRK had a conversation with ADIA MILLET at California African American Museum on June 2, 2019.

Former MFA Chair ROY DOWELL has a solo exhibition “Found in Translation” at the Bolsky Gallery from June 4 to August 3, 2019.

MFA faculty KADE TWIST as part of POSTCOMMODITY has a solo exhibition “with-each-incentive” at the Art Institute of Chicago Jul 25–Sep 22, 2019. Postcommodity will give an artist’s talk on July 26, 2019.

MFA Interim Chair ANNETTA KAPON’S Proxy Gallery will be temporarily relocated to the Otis Galef building during June, July and August 2019, and will host exhibitions by visiting faculty in MFA Graphic Design-curated by MFAGD Chair KALI NIKITAS.

Alum ED GOMEZ ’03 showed his work at Durden and Ray for the “Repeating Fragments” exhibition from May 25 to June 23, 2019, curated by Ed Gomez and Brian Thomas Jones.

Alum JAMIE GRACE DAVIS ’14 showed ‘Abstraction of a Future Memory,’ the final sculpture in Points of Connection at Bombay Beach entrance/exit to conclude the 4-year ongoing endeavor, Points of Connection, which will be shown next year in Los Angeles.

Alums SHIRIN BOLOURCHI ‘17 (July 28) ZEAL HARRIS ’07 (July 5) and MFA Interim Chair ANNETTA KAPON (July 28) will participate in the PØST July Kamikaze shows hosted by MiM gallery at their new location on Washington Blvd.

Alum MICHELLE ANDRADE ’07 has work in a group show “Efímera” curated by Mario Mesquita in the Blue Roof Studios sanctuary and selected outdoor public spaces, from June 22, 2019.

Alum SCOTT RABY ’12 and his partner have started an artist platform, f.eks. in and around the urban spaces of Aalborg in Denmark, and begun hosting international artists. They had their inaugural event in May 2019.

MFA Faculty ALLISON MILLER participated in a group exhibition Work on Paper at Spotlight Gallery at Art Center College of Design from May 15, 2019 to May 31, 2019

Alum KIM FISHER ’98 showed her work in the COLA 2019 individual Artists Fellowship Exhibition at the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery from May 19 – July 14, 2019.

Alum RACHEL WOLFE ‘15 had the Bevegelsene series made into apparel in Oslo Norway, launched online for international sale. The project was featured on the Norwegian Textile Forumå-klær

Alum RACHEL WOLFE ‘15 had Currere I included in Hauste Magazine Volume 4 on Health, available in print for free in Oslo, Norway. She also had her sculpture “Damocles,” included in Kate Orme’s exhibition at Yorkshire Artspace in Sheffield UK, during the month of May 2019.

Alum RACHEL WOLFE ’15 was featured in Ello Getty Image contest in April 2019. Her portrait of Soo Yun Jun (GFA 2015) was the recognized image for the second renaissance feature. WOLFE also participated in Oslo Open, a city-wide open studio and gallery event in Norway, at Fotogalleriet 27 and 28 of April 2019.

Alum SOO YUN JUN ’15 is in a group exhibition "Layers of Memory" at Hoam Faculty Center, Seoul, Korea from May 1st-July 31st.

Alum YRNEH BROWN ‘17 showed his work in Buzzsaw at ArtShare LA from May 11 to June 2, 2019

Grad JAMES ENRIQUEZ was shortlisted for an award at the London International Creative Competition 2018 for his painting The Shepherd.

Alum RACHEL WOLFE ‘15 had a solo exhibition, Magenta Minds & Amber Hearts, at Trance& event space at Bernt Ankers Gate 31, Oslo, Norway on the 11 and 12 of May 2019.

Alum SHIVA ALIABADI ’14 received a fellowship as an Artist-In-Residence at Wassaic Project in May 2019.

Grads CHLOE JEONGMYO KIM and ALLY WALLACE have work in "Made in California" at the Brea Gallery from May 4th through June 28, 2019. KIM’s work "Greenie Grey" received the first-place award by the curator Yevgeniya Mikhailik.

Alums JAMIE GRACE DAVIS ‘14, RACHEL WOLFE ‘15, SWEET SAMSON ‘14, DELIA PEREZ SALINAS ‘15 and MARCELA GOTTARDO ’14 showed in the group exhibition THE SEEKERS at Nout Art Gallery in Kairo, Egypt from April 8 to 22, 2019.

All second year MFA grads had their group MFA exhibition “In Plain Site” at the Bolsky Gallery from May 10 to May 20, 2019.

The Smithsonian American Art Museum has awarded the 31st annual Charles C. Eldredge Prize for Distinguished Scholarship in American Art to alum NIZAN SHAKED ‘00 for her book The Synthetic Proposition: Conceptualism and the Political Referent in Contemporary Art (Manchester University Press, 2017).

Alum SABREE WOODWARD ‘18 took part in the group exhibition “The Creatives” at the Creative House Gallery in Inglewood CA from April 13 to July 13 2019.

MFA Professor RENEE PETROPOULOS showed her work in Experts & Amateurs at Palms Springs Art Museum. There was a Performance by alum SCOTI (CATHERINE SCOTT) "The Politics of Water” and “Wassermelone" on Thursday, April 25 and a reading by MFA Professor KATHRIN BURMESTER, alums ELENA ROSA ‘12 and ALEC EGAN ‘13.

Alum EDITH BEAUCAGE ’10 had her first public art piece TAG DA SLIM installed in Baltimore.

Alum NATHAN GULICK ’17 had an exhibition at "WAITING ROOM" at c4 projects in Copenhagen Denmark from April 19 to May 11, 2019.

SEAN CULLY ’15 showed his art with artists from Los Angeles and Rotterdam at the Torrance Art Museum from March 30th - May 18th, 2019.

Alum YRNEH BROWN ’17 showed his work in Breadth, curated by Jill Moniz at the Good Luck Gallery in Los Angeles from March 2 to May 5, 2019.
