Alum SCOTT RABY ’12 recently organized and curated AAAA as part of f.eks. in Aalborg, Denmark. It is a roaming exhibition platform. The project is about new forms of public art engagements in relationship to anti-gentrification and city branding.

Alums TAYLOR TSCHIDER ’11 and ADAM MARS ‘07 took part in “It’s LA You Fucking Idiot” at SoftcoreLA on November 2, 2019. Alum SRIJON CHOWDHURY ’13 has a solo exhibition A Divine Dance at Anat Ebgi in Los Angeles from November 2 through December 14, 2019. CHOWDHURY gave a lecture for the MFA Fine Arts Lecture Series on Thursday, Oct 31st 2019 at the MFA Studio Building in Culver City

Grad DEREK PRADO participated in De Generación a Generación: A Subconscious Lineage, the 2019 Día de los Muertos exhibition at MOLAA from September 25 to November 10, 2019. PRADO and grad XIOUPING WHITWORTH performed at the Grand Central Art Center in Santa Ana, Orange County, on Saturday November 2 2019 as part of an ongoing exhibition for the Artist Martin Durazo's solo show. 

Alums LUIS G. HERNANDEZ ‘03 and RAUL BALTAZAR ‘13 are participating with work in the exhibition La Frontera/The Border: Art Across the Border at the Guggenheim Gallery at Chapman University. The exhibition runs August 26 - November 17, 2019.

On October 10, 2019 grads NIKKI LUNA PAZ and XIOUPING WHITWORTH (Experimental Lab) organized BONDAGE AND FREEDOM an evening of group exhibition and performances at the Sidebar space in the graduate Studios in Culver City. Participating artist included grads DEREK PRADO, JOHEE KWAK, SARAH AUGUST, BRIA GOODALL, WEI GAO, SHARON BARNES, SILVIO EISENBERG, CASSIA REYNOLDS, MAGGIE WANG, MIRENA KIM, MARIA LAURA HENDRIX, MIGUEL HERNANDEZ, TIN KEI KEI, DELANEY ENGLE, NEFERTITI JENKINS, AMY FRIEDBERG and MFA faculty KADE TWIST.

On October 24, 2019, grads NIKKI LUNA PAZ and XIOUPING WHITWORTH organized TELEGENIC, a live Instagram performance with grads JOHEE KWAK, MFA faculty KADE TWIST, and others in the Sidebar Space at Otis’s Graduate Studios in Culver City.

Alum SEAN CULLY’s ’15 sculptures are included in an alumni show Root Cause at Long Beach City College’s Art Gallery from October 24 to November 27, 2019.

MFA FA Faculty JUDIE BAMBER is in the inaugural exhibition at Gavlak Gallery in downtown LA from October 26 - December 21, 2019

MFA FA Interim Chair ANNETTA KAPON will have a one-person exhibition Virtue of Necessity at the Coachella Valley Arts Center in Indio, CA January 11-February 16, 2020.

Alum KARMA HENRY ’10 was part of a GBNA group exhibition Intertwined: Basketry & Beyond at Sierra Arts Foundation from October 1-31, 2019

MFA Faculty KADE TWIST with the art collective Postcommodity is showing The Point of Final Collapse, a new sound installation at San Francisco Art Institute (SFAI) from November 15, 2019 until the Millennium Tower is fixed or torn down. 

Alum WAKANA KIMURA’S ’11 My Heavenly Maiden Series will be a part of the group show at Self Help Graphics & Art, October 10th to November 27th 2019.

MFA FA Faculty KORI NEWKIRK took part in the group exhibition Belonging organized by Erin Christovale with Vanessa Arizmendi at Hammer Museum from Aug 31 to Nov 3, 2019

MFA FA Interim Chair ANNETTA KAPON’s Proxy Gallery hosted an exhibition Vase in a Box by KAREN CARSON, October 10 to November 30, 2019.

Alum CHLOE JEONGMYO KIM ’19 had a one-person exhibition Plasticker curated by Stella and Caroline Yoo at CXU Gallery in Los Angeles from October 9-16, 2019. 

MARCELA GOTTARDO ’14 will have a two-person exhibition with FLAVIA MONTEIRO curated by Steven Wong at Centro Luigi di Sarro in Rome, Italy in November 2019.

MFA Professor RENÉE PETROPOULOS presented We Will Congregate: Extended: Platforms and Wool, a directed reading and performance with Arturo Hernández on October 19, 2019 at Tongva Park in Santa Monica sponsored by 18th Street Art Center. 

Otis’s Ben Maltz Gallery is hosting the group exhibition 100 Years of Otis College Alumni from September 7 to December 7, 2019. MFA Faculty ALLISON MILLER had a one-person exhibition CAPRRIUS at The Pit in Los Angeles from Sept. 8 to October 19, 2019.

Alum CHLOE JEONGMYO KIM ’19 showed her work in the group exhibition Artists Statement at Orange County Great Park September 1, to November 10, 2019.

Alum PATRICK HILL ’00 took part in the group exhibition Landlord Colors: On Art, Economy, and Materiality at Cranbrook Art Museum in Detroit MI from June 22 through October 6, 2019.

MFA Faculty RENÉE PETROPOULOS and JUDIE BAMBER are part of B.A.T State III guest-curated by Anita Bunn and Francesco X. Siqueiros of El Nopal Press at the Kleefeld Contemporary Art Museum at CSULB from September 9 to November 14, 2019.  

MFA Faculty JUDIE BAMBER is showing her work in Made in California:  Art + Photographic Portraits of Artists by Wayne Shimabukuro, RAFFMA at California State University, San Bernardino, from October 3 - December 14, 2019

Alum YRNEH GABON ’17 showed his work in the Summer 2019 exhibition of the National Gallery in Kingston, Jamaica, from July 28 to October 27, 2019.

Alum DIANE HOLLAND '84 is slated for inclusion in "Layered Look 2" in Winter 2020. She was also part of Collusion: Friends of EMS at Yucca Valley Art Center from October 4 to 21, 2019.
