Alum MARGARETHE DREXEL ’16 exhibited her work co-curated by alum ANTHONY CARFELLO  ’09 at the Mak Center Schindler House, October 17th, 2020 - January 10th, 2021.

Alum SHIVA ALIABADI ’14 just finished her work-study at Snow Farm in Williamsburg, MA. She was part of the Other Places Art Fair through the Scream Queen group In September through October 31st. Her drawings are in a group show called "Memory and the Chromatroposphere" at the Mood Room in Phoenix, AZ. Sept. 26th-October 10th, 2020. ALIABADI has a solo show of her drawings in an exhibit called Re-rooted / Re-routed at Das Schaufenster Gallery in Seattle, Washington. October 14th - November 12th. The group show in September called Not Originally From Here, Unless Otherwise Stated curated by Dawn Ertl and Catalyst (online exhibition) is listed in Maiden LA. Alum KARIM SHUQUEM ’18 showed his work Die Kunstkammer in Glendale, October 6 to November 12, 2020. 2020. At Adams Square Mini Park in Glendale. 

Alum LINDA ANDERSON ('74) won the Award of Excellence at the Carnegie Center for Art and History "Form, Not Function" Contemporary Art Quilts exhibit Aug. 1 - Oct. 25.  She will exhibit with "California Fibers: Figuratively" at Front Porch Gallery, Carlsbad, CA this fall.  She is featured at Oceanside Museum of Art "Southern California Contemporary Quilts" invitational August 1 2020– Feb 21, 2021.  She was juried in West Coast Fiber Art at Escondido Arts Partnership Gallery from Sept. 11- Oct. 2.  Linda has a solo exhibit "Common Threads" at the Chandler Center for the Performing Arts in Chandler, AZ. from Nov. 21 - Dec. 3, 2020.

Alum BRANDY WOLFE ’12 is in the exhibition Iced Ice that was on view at Proto Gomez Gallery in New York from September 3rd to September 30th, 2020.

Alum LUIS G HERNÁNDEZ ’03 is in BAHALA NA in Art Ark Gallery  in SAN JOSE from September 4 to October 17, 2020.

Alum MARK FARINA ’18 took part in TAR FEST 2020, Transition. Juried by Holly Jerger from August 22 to September 5, 2020. At 170 S. La Brea Ave, LA 90036

MFA Faculty ANNETTA KAPON’S Proxy gallery hosted an installation SUPERSEDE by alum MARK FARINA ‘18 from October 7 to November 3, 2020. 

“Crust” is coming in September to Flatline ’15 Gallery, with new work by Alum ANDREW K. CURREY ‘14 and Stephanie Sherwood. Curated by Alum SEAN CULLY September 5 to 25, 2020.

The Ronald H. Silverman Fine Arts Gallery at Cal State LA presents Mojo Rising, curated by jill Moniz, highlighting Betye Saar’s influence and inspiration on two generations of L.A. artists. The exhibition will be from August 24 through October 9 and can be viewed on the Ronald H. Silverman Fine Arts Gallery’s Instagram and Facebook pages. It includes works by alums REGINA HEROD ’13 and YRNEH GABON ‘17.

MFA Faculty ANNETTA KAPON’S Proxy gallery hosted an installation The Law of the Excluded Middle-in Calculation by alum TIANYI SUN ’20 from August 15 to September 15, 2020.

Grad SHARON BARNES curated Breaking the Mold opening on August 29th at SoLA Contemporary, 3718 W Slauson Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90043.  Artists include alums REGINA HEROD ‘13, MIRENA KIM ‘20, with an additional work by the curator, alum SHARON BARNES.

The contemporary art platform alum SCOTT RABY ’12 co-organized, f.eks. was just awarded the highest honor for a self-organized, independent art platform in Denmark in 2020.  https://www.bkf.dk/her-er-vinderne-af-bkf-prisen-2020/ RABY’s concept project The Nomadic Platform for Eco-Economic Futures opened an exhibition called Alternative Limfjord Ecologies with f.eks. in Aalborg, Denmark in June 2020.  The project is ongoing until September 2020.

Alum SHIRIN BOLOURCHI ’17 was part of the exhibition “Agent of ordinary pleasures”, curated by Victoria Chapman @vc_projects as part of MaidenLA from September 10-17, 2020.

MFA Interim chair ANNETTA KAPON showed her videos in WOW Babylonia, part of New Media Festival curated by Wilfried Agricola de Cologne at  TAM – Torrance Art Museum Los Angeles – August 18 – September 2, 2020 

Alum TIANYI SUN ’20 is showing her work as part of Archive Machines at LAMAG from July 30 to November 1, 2020.

Alum SEAN CULLY ‘16 will be participating in this year's Los Angeles Rotterdam project (LARp). LARp pairs an artist collective from Los Angeles with one from Rotterdam. https://larp.hotglue.me/  

CAMP-Center for Art on Migration Politics founders and curators, Frederikke Hansen and alum TONE OLAF NIELSEN, ‘98, will be part of the upcoming documenta 15 in Kassel, Germany.

Alum SHIVA ALIABADI ’14 is in the exhibition "Personal Contacts" at Durden & Ray from Aug. 1- Oct 17, 2020 curated by Gul Cagin. She will be interviewed live at 7pm PST on August 3rd for this exhibit on Instagram  @durdenandray. ALIABADI also earned a Snowfarm residency for August and September 2020. Alum ERICA STEPHENS '07 published a book of her poetry, Poems for a Lost Lover, in February 2020.
