On November 7, 2017 Otis College of Art and Design will host a rare and special presentation by world renowned designer David Yurman and his wife, Sybil. Together they launched the David Yurman company in 1980 and collaborated to create jewelry that is both a fashion statement and a work of art. The presentation will be held in the college's Forum, from 11:30am-12:30pm.
As both an artist and a jeweler, David Yurman is involved in the entire creative process, from initial sketch to finished piece. The finest precious metals, rare gemstones, and unconventional materials are fashioned into jewelry of enduring quality and beauty.
This event is presented at Otis College as part of the inaugural David Yurman Young Artist Prize for 2017, which was awarded to Lila Reynolds (’17 Product Design). Lila also received a $20,000 scholarship and her winning sculpture will be displayed at the David Yurman Beverly Hills boutique.
"I’m incredibly honored to be recognized by a distinguished and dedicated artist such as David Yurman,” Lila said. “During my tenure at Otis College, I have worked hard to develop my skills and craft. Winning this award has truly inspired me to further continue developing my techniques as an artist and designer.” Hear more about Lila's experience in the video below.
