LAX and Otis College Unveil Art for #100percentLA Summer Selfie Campaign

Today, Otis College of Art and Design, in partnership with Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to unveil original art and design work created by recent Otis College graduates for the Summer Selfie campaign, "100percentLA," at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

 LAWA Deputy Executive Director Keith Wilschetz, Otis College Vice-President of Communications and Marketing Jeffrey Perkins, Otis College graduates and LAWA staffers unveil new designs at today's event.

The campaign uses art and design to highlight the many facets of Los Angeles that make the city unique, such as beautiful beaches, enchanting deserts and cultural diversity.  During the event, 2018 Otis College graduates, Charlie Kendall, Alice Hur and Zehan Sheng's design work was unveiled in Terminal 6 on the Departures Level.  Hur, a Digital Media, Motion Graphics graduate, created "Paradise," Kendall, a Communication Arts, Illustration graduate, created "Alternative Transportation," and Sheng, a Digital Media, Motion Graphics graduate, designed "Journey."

The LAX Pets Unstressing Pets therapy dogs and Guest Services staff were also on hand to invite travelers to take selfies at the event while using the artwork as their backdrops.

“LAX is excited to partner with Otis College of Art and Design for the ‘100percentLA’ campaign, which highlights the creativity and vibrancy of our City as seen through the eyes of young local artists and designers,” said Keith Wilschetz, Deputy Executive Director for Emergency Management and Operations, LAWA. “These exciting works of art, which will be installed throughout our LAX terminals this summer, help create a uniquely LA experience for our guests and a provide an opportunity for them to engage in the campaign and share their own LA stories.”

Ferguson, President of Otis College of Art and Design. "Social media has opened art and design to the world and this project promises an opportunity for Angeleños and visitors alike, to celebrate the vibrancy of Los Angeles. This year Otis College turns 100, and there’s no better time to celebrate our LA legacy than in this campaign.”

The "100percentLA" campaign will run throughout the summer at LAX.  Additional artwork from Otis College graduates will be installed in various terminals for guests to take selfies and post on social media with the following hashtags: #100percentLA, #FlyLAX, and #OtisCollege.
