November is Open Reading Period at Otis Books

Seeking Submissions Of Poetry, Fiction, Or Non-Fiction

Otis Books is accepting unsolicited manuscripts during the month of November 2017. The press publishes works of contemporary fiction, non-fiction, and poetry, with a special interest in translations and writings from and about Los Angeles. There is no reading fee and both established and unpublished writers are welcome to submit. Manuscripts of poetry, fiction, or non-fiction, in the English original or in translation will be considered, visit the Otis Books submission page for manuscript requirements and the notification timeline.

Otis Books is the publication project of the Otis College MFA Writing Program and students are involved in all aspects of the press’ activities, from selecting and editing manuscripts to designing books, managing production, and getting published titles out into the world. To date Otis Books has published over 40 titles, most recently a translation of Amelia Rosselli's Hospital Series by Fulbright-winner Diana Thow. 

The MFA Writing program also hosts a Visiting Writers Series featuring celebrated contemporary authors, poets, and essayists. Past speakers have included Pulitzer Prize winner Viet Thanh Nguyen, poet Tonya Foster and Delicious Foods author James Hannaham. Check the calendar for the next Visiting Writers Series event.
