Otis College Graphic Design BFA and MFA Programs—and Two Students—Receive Important Accolades

The College bested several graphic design programs at peer institutions throughout the U.S. in Intelligent.com’s latest rankings, and two students were recognized by Graphic Design USA. 

Intelligent.com, a student-centered, editorially independent higher education resource that ranks colleges, has included Otis College’s BFA and MFA graphic design programs in its 2021 Best Degree Programs Guide, which can be accessed here. Otis College is ranked number five in its Top 50 Graphic Design Degree Programs guide, designated as “Best in the West” (above Rhode Island School of Design, number nine; Art Center College of Design, number 10; California Institute of the Arts, number 19; and California College of the Arts, number 21). The MFA program also was ranked in Intelligent.com’s Top 45 Master’s in Graphic Design Degree Programs guide

“Otis has an amazing community, alumni doing incredible things, and some of the best faculty in the world,” says Joe Potts, the interim assistant chair of the Graphic Design program at Otis College. “It’s exciting to see all these things that make Otis so special recognized publicly in this way.” 

Additionally, two Otis College graphic design students also were recognized last week in Graphic Design USA’s 2021 Students to Watch List. Congratulations to BFA senior Khang Nguyen and recent MFA graduate Malak Almalki for this amazing recognition. (Visit the links in their names for more information on each.)

Otis College of Art and Design was listed among thousands of public institutions in the nation, and the comprehensive research guide is based on an assessment of 2,277 accredited colleges and universities. Each program is evaluated based on curriculum quality, graduation rate, reputation, and post-graduate employment.  

The 2021 rankings are calculated through a unique scoring system which includes student engagement, potential return on investment, and leading third-party evaluations. Intelligent.com analyzed thousands of schools with comparable programs on a scale of 0 to 100, with Otis College of Art and Design making it to the final list for 2 Degree Programs. The methodology uses an algorithm that collects and analyzes multiple rankings into one score to easily compare each university’s degree program.
